About

We made a bet on the physical world's intelligence.

The built environment is the largest instrumented space on earth. Billions of cameras. Almost none of that signal turned into intelligence. That's the company we're building.

The bet

Every building is already instrumented. Almost none of it is used.

Across the world's malls, ports, construction sites, and public spaces, billions of cameras are running continuously. The footage loops and overwrites. The intelligence — footfall patterns, occupancy rhythms, safety signals, media attention — evaporates with it.

The data infrastructure for the physical world is decades behind what the digital world takes for granted. A SaaS company knows which feature its users click. A mall operator does not know which corridor carries peak footfall on a Tuesday afternoon in Ramadan.

Canopy's thesis is that closing this gap does not require new hardware. The cameras are already there. What's missing is the intelligence layer that reads them continuously, extracts what matters, and delivers it in a form that operators can act on — without creating a surveillance apparatus in the process.

The constraint that shapes everything

Privacy is not a differentiator. It is the condition of operating.

The markets we operate in — UAE, KSA, and increasingly the broader MENA region — are moving fast on AI regulation. PDPL is in force. The AI Charter sets a high bar for explainability and non-discrimination. SIRA governs how camera infrastructure is used in Dubai.

We did not design Canopy to be compliant with these frameworks. We designed Canopy so that the frameworks describe what we already do. No raw footage is stored. No PII is processed. Edge inference runs on-premises. The data that leaves a site contains counts and events, not images or identifiers.

This is the only architecture worth building. Anything else creates liability for our clients and a regulatory cliff edge for us.

Geography

Built in the Middle East. Designed for the world's fastest-growing built environments.

MENA is building at a pace the rest of the world is not. New cities, new masterplans, new mall formats, new logistics corridors. The operators commissioning this infrastructure need intelligence tools that match their ambition — not tools ported from a Western retail context that does not apply here.

Canopy was founded in the UAE. Our understanding of the regulatory environment, the procurement dynamics, and the operational needs of sovereign developers and government innovation labs is firsthand, not researched.

United Arab Emirates

Headquarters. Primary market. UAE Mainland LLC registered. Coverage across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, including free-zone and government-entity clients.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Active deployments across Riyadh and Jeddah. Vision 2030 infrastructure projects are a primary vector — giga-projects, new urban districts, mega-malls.

Broader MENA

Egypt, Qatar, and Bahrain in active pipeline. Each market carries distinct regulatory and procurement characteristics; Canopy adapts at the data residency and compliance layer, not at the product layer.

United States

Delaware C-Corp for US-based investment relationships and international commercial agreements. US market is not a near-term focus; MENA scale is the priority.

The company

A small team working on a large problem.

Canopy is early. We are deliberate about that. A small team with high conviction moves faster and makes better decisions than a large team managing competing priorities. We will grow when the architecture is proven and the market pull is clear — not before.

We ship architecture, not announcements.

Every client conversation is a technical engagement. We do not demo slides. We demo working systems against real camera feeds.

We are selective about who we work with.

Canopy is not for every operator with a camera. We deploy where we can deliver measurable intelligence value within 90 days of go-live. That selectivity protects the quality of every deployment.

The technology serves the intelligence goal.

Edge inference, model architecture, and the data pipeline exist to produce signals operators can act on. We do not build technology for its own sake. If a simpler approach produces better intelligence, we take the simpler approach.

Privacy is not negotiable.

No engagement, commercial pressure, or regulatory grey area changes the architecture. Raw footage does not leave the site. PII does not enter the pipeline. This is not a policy. It is a structural constraint.
